About:

Kristy Boyce is an award-winning photographer and multimedia artist based in Toronto, Canada and has been published and exhibited world wide. Originally from Thunder Bay Ontario, she began her career as a photojournalist in Africa and Southeast Asia.

Commercial/Editorial Bio

Boyce began her career as a photojournalist and is interested in using multimedia as a tool for storytelling. Preferring to work with whatever technology best serves the task at hand. She has a diverse ranges of interests from photojournalism to commercial work, but the common thread throughout remains: producing dynamic visuals that serve to tell an impactful story.

She holds a BFA from Ryerson University in photography, and an MFA in Digital Futures from OCADU.

Artist Bio

Boyce's work focuses on social and human rights issues; often drawing upon themes such as sexuality, identity and gender performance, Boyce’s work seeks to explore society’s “others”; those made other by the facts of their very nature, those that are set apart from accepted ideas of normativity and cultural configurations such as “male” and “female,” and “right” or “wrong.” 

She received an MFA in Digital Futures at OCAD University where she specialized in immersive video, pedagogical making, and multimedia experiences. Boyce also has a B.F.A in photography from Ryerson University and is currently interested in collaborative processes involving decolonization within the arts. She has a commercial portrait photography and fine art practice and is a sessional instructor at OCAD University.
